Gerda participated in 8 biennials, had three retrospectives dedicated to her person, at MAM, at Pinacoteca and at Caixa Cultural São Paulo. He has made several solo, group and international exhibitions.

Gerda arrived in São Paulo, in April 1939. In the first few months the painter Ernesto de Fioro encouraged her to draw. In the studio of Paulo Rossi Osir she had her first exhibition in 1941, and there she worked with Mario Zanini, Alfredo Volpi, Rebolo, Giuliana Giorgi.

Since 1945, she has made 28 solo exhibitions, including in Rome and Madrid, highlighting the retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo, in 1977.

She participated in the III (1955), the VII (1963), the IX (1967) and the X (1969) Bienal de São Paulo. She was awarded at the International Caricature Contest - Bordighera, Italy in 1958. She was one of the invited artists for the inaugural exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art in 1970, having participated in the Panorama of Current Brazilian Art in 1971, 1974, 1980, 1987 and 1990.

Invited by Carmem de Almeida, she began writing and illustrating children's stories for the Women's Supplement of the Jornal o Estado de São Paulo, which culminated in the edition of the book Psiuuu... by Giroflé in 1963, republished by Editora Ática in 1998. In the same newspaper wrote and illustrated the column “Observando”, in 1955, “Atrás da Fachada” was edited by Ed. Habitat, followed by: “São Paulo- Casas e Fachadas”, in 1978; in 1993 “Eu me remember” by Companhia das Letras; in 1997 Editora Ática released “Trancatudo”. In 1961 she edited the first volume of a Brazilian Bestiário with text by Paulo Emílio Vanzolini, registered with metal engraving.

In 1997, at the age of 91, she exhibited at MAC,-Terra Papagalorum e Antropofolosophia, a total of 44 drawings. In August 1998, she is honored at the XXV International Humor Exhibition in Piracicaba, in which she participated for many years, having been honored at the first in 74.
